“Hello, my name is Adrian. I work with Harness Racing Victoria

in Melbourne, Australia and am a huge fan of Asafa. So much so that

back in early 2005 after my horse trainer picked out a horse for me to

buy at the yearling sales that I named him Asafa. He was big and black

and we were hoping he was fast, which he has turned out to be. He has

won 8 races to date.

When he first started racing he had a symmetry with Asafa, when Asafa

the runner would win, Asafa the horse would win, in fact when his

world record was equaled, Asafa the horse dead heated for first the

following day. A news story was actually made and aired on a TV

station here about it, just before Asafa came to Melbourne for the

Commonwealth Games. Myself, my trainer and her family all went to the

Commonwealth Games and cheered Asafa on and his Gold Medal winning run

was awesome.”

”Recently, Asafa Powell came to Japan to compete in the IAAF championships in Osaka and my students became even more inspired to work hard to achieve their dreams and to become as successful as Powell (even though he was outrun by Gay). Since then, Powell has become a local hero with pictures popping up all over the school and more and more I am being bombarded with "Asafa Powell" questions…I am still beaming with pride because of how he (Powell) has inspired my Japanese students”

“Asafa,

Just wanted to drop you a quick note to say that I am a big fan of your.  I haven't run track since my freshman year of college back in 91, but I do try to keep up with the sport from time to time.  What does 2008 hold in store for you. I know that in 07 you were plagues with a lot of injuries, but I hope that you will be making some positives moves in 2008.  Hope to hear back from you.

Always,

Marcus”

World Record back
Asafa, I know you can take the world record back. You have done this before and can do it again, like you do after Athenas Olympic Games, when nobody seems to belive in your potential. Good luck in the 4x100m man.

Hello Asafa, the olympics 100m finals didnt go as planned, but guess what we are eagerly waiting to see you bounce back and blaze up the track, because we have seen that you can deliver and when you deliver you do so in a big way. I must congratulate you on the maturity and confidence you exuded in most rounds of the olympics. I hope you dont beat your self up, but instead rebound and display to the world, yet again, that you are one of the greatest sprinters of all time. Love you a whole lot and looking forward to your continued success and thats how we Jamaican feel about you.
Lots of Love,

\" The true greatness of a man is not measured by how far he has reached in life but by how many obstacles he overcame in getting their.\"

As the great Jamaican hymn says the hotter the battle the sweeter the victory.

You may not have achieved what you wanted today, but god knows best. You must remember that of that all the billions of people in the world you are one of the fastest therefore you are truly special.

Refocus on your goals, sort out the physical and mental problems you may have and strive to achieve.

I am proud of all three of you.

To Asafa,
I am more than impressed with your attitude and sportsmanship. Thank you for being gracious. You've already impacted many, don't concede. Passion is much greater than pride, and I appreciate your passion and perseverance.

Perseverance
I cannot give u the formula for success; but i can give u the formula for failure--- which is to try to please everyone. I am amazed by your sportmanship and humility. Whatever your achilles heel is, you can overcome it to become a better athlete, but more importantly, to become a greater man.
'If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believeth' (Mark 9:23)
Remember: nothing is predestined; the obstacles of our past can become the gateways that lead to new and better beginnings. Asafa, I really do wish you all the best things this life has to offer. Good Luck!!! You've done us proud!!!
