“Hello, my name is Adrian. I work with Harness Racing Victoria

in Melbourne, Australia and am a huge fan of Asafa. So much so that

back in early 2005 after my horse trainer picked out a horse for me to

buy at the yearling sales that I named him Asafa. He was big and black

and we were hoping he was fast, which he has turned out to be. He has

won 8 races to date.

When he first started racing he had a symmetry with Asafa, when Asafa

the runner would win, Asafa the horse would win, in fact when his

world record was equaled, Asafa the horse dead heated for first the

following day. A news story was actually made and aired on a TV

station here about it, just before Asafa came to Melbourne for the

Commonwealth Games. Myself, my trainer and her family all went to the

Commonwealth Games and cheered Asafa on and his Gold Medal winning run

was awesome.”

”Recently, Asafa Powell came to Japan to compete in the IAAF championships in Osaka and my students became even more inspired to work hard to achieve their dreams and to become as successful as Powell (even though he was outrun by Gay). Since then, Powell has become a local hero with pictures popping up all over the school and more and more I am being bombarded with "Asafa Powell" questions…I am still beaming with pride because of how he (Powell) has inspired my Japanese students”

“Asafa,

Just wanted to drop you a quick note to say that I am a big fan of your.  I haven't run track since my freshman year of college back in 91, but I do try to keep up with the sport from time to time.  What does 2008 hold in store for you. I know that in 07 you were plagues with a lot of injuries, but I hope that you will be making some positives moves in 2008.  Hope to hear back from you.

Always,

Marcus”

Execute! Execute! Execute!
Big man firstly you are the Star, not Usain or Tyson. Take note that everybody fear you or target you (you are the mark by which all sprinters are judged) but you always seem to make it easy for them once another recognized name enters the line-up. The result of this is runners who are normally at leas .30 seconds behind you at the finish are for some strange reason beating you in these races. Nobody can tell how to relax before a race or what to think. But I will say this to you no matter what’s on your mind; no matter who is in the line-up, no matter if they give you lane10 just do what you do in training and all will be ok Execute! Execute! Execute! Remember you are a Sprinter Bolt and Gay just run with a target in mind (beat Asafa), and luckily for them they are on your mind and that cause you to not to execute. If it is possible try and “zone- out” or develop tunnel vision when you line-up (only thing you hear is the Starter, only thing you see is the finish line) for a race, once you execute you will not finish less than second. The reason I say second is because currently you are not executing, therefore in all fear ness Bolt have the slight edge not Richard Thompson or Walter Dix (ow-di-r^$$$dem2deyfibeatU).

Lets me define execution for you. Without any competition last week you ran 9.72. Now if you should execute a race in a similar way when the competitors are Usain or Tyson what do you think your time will be? (There is the extra push when you are relaxed= 9.50sec) Big man nobody is as good as you when execute perfectly. Remember do not think about who is in your race just execute what you do in training and you will be greatest sprinter ever. Commonalities Osaka, Beijing and Brussels what I observed especially in Brussels and Osaka you executed for 80 meters then you seemingly started to think about the oncoming runners and there the race ended for you. Beijing you jus mucked up the entire thing (you were too concerned about the Bolt and Athens) whilst your reaction time indicated that you where made third out of the blocks your customary drive phase was shorten by at least 45 meters which means your were upright far too early which means more wind resistance so at 80 meters when you actually where in second position and wanted that extra there was nothing I quote you “my legs went”. Big man I’m yet to see someone beat you. You are the one that cause the other runners to win by not executing for 110 meters relax like in training.

WAF Stuttgart
Another win. :)

It looked like all the Jamaicans were not stressed at all. In photos, Michael Frater looked like he was uncontrollably laughing at I-don't-know-what:

...or maybe they're all relaxing as the season winds down.

Anyway, hilarious :grin

Also Men's 200m...gotta big up my countryman, Brendan Christian (ANU)...yay... :zzz

I'm looking forward to more great performances by Asafa during 2009 athletic season (not sure what's left for this year). Here's to hoping that it will usher in greater success and new personal bests.

Job well done
Asafa, you are the genius sportsman, and I’m sure you are the great person. Each your start brings so much pleasure to all your admirers, including me. I believe in you, believe there is no even one rival for you on the racetrack, but there is only one contestant and he is inside of you. So you have to win only him. 9,69 is not the limit of human possibilities, especially it’s not a limit for you. And if Usain could make it, it’s not a problem for you for sure. I know that. Also I trust in your energy and I admire you (not only as the sportsman).
Thanks god you exist on this planet.
My heart always with you and for you.

Always yours,
With big love,
Luli
