“Hello, my name is Adrian. I work with Harness Racing Victoria

in Melbourne, Australia and am a huge fan of Asafa. So much so that

back in early 2005 after my horse trainer picked out a horse for me to

buy at the yearling sales that I named him Asafa. He was big and black

and we were hoping he was fast, which he has turned out to be. He has

won 8 races to date.

When he first started racing he had a symmetry with Asafa, when Asafa

the runner would win, Asafa the horse would win, in fact when his

world record was equaled, Asafa the horse dead heated for first the

following day. A news story was actually made and aired on a TV

station here about it, just before Asafa came to Melbourne for the

Commonwealth Games. Myself, my trainer and her family all went to the

Commonwealth Games and cheered Asafa on and his Gold Medal winning run

was awesome.”

”Recently, Asafa Powell came to Japan to compete in the IAAF championships in Osaka and my students became even more inspired to work hard to achieve their dreams and to become as successful as Powell (even though he was outrun by Gay). Since then, Powell has become a local hero with pictures popping up all over the school and more and more I am being bombarded with "Asafa Powell" questions…I am still beaming with pride because of how he (Powell) has inspired my Japanese students”

“Asafa,

Just wanted to drop you a quick note to say that I am a big fan of your.  I haven't run track since my freshman year of college back in 91, but I do try to keep up with the sport from time to time.  What does 2008 hold in store for you. I know that in 07 you were plagues with a lot of injuries, but I hope that you will be making some positives moves in 2008.  Hope to hear back from you.

Always,

Marcus”

Congratulations!
Congratulations Asafa!
I believe that there are many Jamaicans like myself, who continue to appreciate the outstanding contribution you have made in putting the spotlight on Jamaica in the track & field arena. I also know that its is in our dissapointment that we can focus within, and rise. Your triumphant rise in the 4x100 in record time, will stand as testimony of your strength & determination to succeed. Keep striving Asafa!! The world deserves to see what you are truly made of.
Blessings!
