“Hello, my name is Adrian. I work with Harness Racing Victoria

in Melbourne, Australia and am a huge fan of Asafa. So much so that

back in early 2005 after my horse trainer picked out a horse for me to

buy at the yearling sales that I named him Asafa. He was big and black

and we were hoping he was fast, which he has turned out to be. He has

won 8 races to date.

When he first started racing he had a symmetry with Asafa, when Asafa

the runner would win, Asafa the horse would win, in fact when his

world record was equaled, Asafa the horse dead heated for first the

following day. A news story was actually made and aired on a TV

station here about it, just before Asafa came to Melbourne for the

Commonwealth Games. Myself, my trainer and her family all went to the

Commonwealth Games and cheered Asafa on and his Gold Medal winning run

was awesome.”

”Recently, Asafa Powell came to Japan to compete in the IAAF championships in Osaka and my students became even more inspired to work hard to achieve their dreams and to become as successful as Powell (even though he was outrun by Gay). Since then, Powell has become a local hero with pictures popping up all over the school and more and more I am being bombarded with "Asafa Powell" questions…I am still beaming with pride because of how he (Powell) has inspired my Japanese students”

“Asafa,

Just wanted to drop you a quick note to say that I am a big fan of your.  I haven't run track since my freshman year of college back in 91, but I do try to keep up with the sport from time to time.  What does 2008 hold in store for you. I know that in 07 you were plagues with a lot of injuries, but I hope that you will be making some positives moves in 2008.  Hope to hear back from you.

Always,

Marcus”

Congrats
Hi Asafa,
Congratulations on your achievement in the 4x100 relay finals in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. I look up to you as an inspiration. I thought you had given up when you didnt make it in the mens 100m, but when you came out in the 4x100 and broke that record I was elated. It shows us that God doesn\'t give up on us even in our darkest times. Continue to serve him and who knows next time you will fulfill that dream of breaking Usain Bolt\'s New Record also.

U 4real
So...I followed the link to the Bolt-Powell dance-off on youtube.

LOL...Hil-a-ri-ous!

Good to see this very serious, composed international track star in high spirits...pon de dance floor at that!

I hope that the future (in athletics and otherwise) will unfold as he hopes it will, with all his continued hard work.

And I love the fact that he can play a musical instrument...or maybe I just appreciate anyone with some artistic talent, in addition to what they "do".

So if there are plans to visit ANTIGUA anytime soon, I hope it's publicized. I may have to exercise a little national dissent (all due respect to our Brendan Christian - first Antiguan ever to make the 100m semis @ the Olympics)...and show my support for a hard-working, multi-talented, grounded, and - let's face it - HOT from abs to deltoids Jamaican representative from the Caribbean to the world.

In de meantime, gwan, Asafa; don't easy pon dem at all!

Poem for the Jamaican Olympics Team
The Jamaican Olympics Team made all of us proud and so I wrote this tribute to all of you...to all the team members. Though I might say I am a BIG Asafa fan ha ha

Usain you were unstoppable, Asafa you were more than an anchor as you held it all together, the relay team was remarkable and every single athlete named or unnamed rewarded Jamaica with their talents.

Golden Glory
Poem by: Proud Jamaican Kary

With the goal in sight,
The prospect of gold lay awake in the night,
Records waiting to be obliterated by the Bolt of light,
And the timing came through when the time was just right.

A monumental moment for Asafa had yet to unfold,
An epic to be shared with Nesta and Michael…a race already sold,
The world about to witness an aura to behold,
The baton of glory embraced within the team spirited hold.

With the shot of the gun leading the golden procession,
On a feat shared by all four in majestic succession,
Off to glory in unison to their promised destination,
Their dreams and delivered prayers met in great culmination.

The women also excelled in their remarkable splendour,
Shelly-Ann, Kerron, Sherone, Veronica, Shericka and Melanie all ran with great fervour,
All the hurdles collectively mastered in great honour,
Every track was covered in seconds distanced from any hour.

Every athlete sought to fulfill each aspiration,
They became an inspirational inspiration,
They displayed how to indeed perfect perfection,
An outstanding finish with a golden reflection.

A country that is proven undoubtedly second to none,
Unveiled a treasure-trove of eleven deserving medals…not just one,
Her sun will never set without promising stars to look upon,
Jamaica land we love, no sky limits your black, green and golden horizon.

Determination tells it all
Hey Asafa,
It is true what they say about hard work and determination that it equals sucess. You have proven this time and time again, and once more you have done it, by winning in fine style 9.87 sec in Britian yesterday. You are a champion and in time everyone will recognise the truth about this. Mr. Powell you are the one. Keep doing your thing, good luck on Sept.02.
Love always,
Juanita
